Quest’ultima, insieme alla diffusione in rete di bufale sull’odontoiatria, rappresenta un grave rischio per la salute dei denti.\u003C\u002Fem>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Quella delle mascherine fai-da-te per l’allineamento dei denti è l’ultima moda partita dagli Stati Uniti; spesso dettata dal desiderio di avere un bel sorriso a basso costo – come l’utilizzo smodato delle strisce sbiancanti -, sta però già causando danni irreparabili a moltissimi pazienti.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Come funziona? Le aziende produttrici spediscono ai clienti un kit con tutto l’occorrente per prendere l’impronta della propria dentatura, che viene poi utilizzata per fabbricare la mascherina su misura.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Il cliente, una volta ricevuta la mascherina, può così iniziare autonomamente il trattamento ortodontico, senza una supervisione medica. Un metodo apparentemente facile, veloce e dai costi molto contenuti, che alletta molte persone ignare dei rischi per la salute.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>La diagnosi e la supervisione costante da parte di un ortodontista abilitato, invece, è assolutamente necessaria in ogni fase del trattamento ortodontico: dagli esami clinici e radiografici, ai modelli di studio e le scansioni della bocca, fino alla pianificazione e supervisione di tutte le fasi del trattamento, senza dimenticare i controlli periodici post trattamento.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>I rischi, in caso di mancata supervisione professionale, sono molteplici: dai danni irreparabili all’allineamento delle arcate dentali fino al peggioramento funzionale nell’apertura del morso.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Ma le insidie del web non finiscono qui. Dopo la medicina tradizionale, da qualche tempo anche l’odontoiatria è diventata oggetto di bufale che diventano velocemente virali: la tossicità del fluoro e le proprietà sbiancanti del carbone attivo sono solo alcuni esempi.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Purtroppo le informazioni sanitarie sono tra i principali obiettivi dei creatori di fake-news. Il caso più eclatante è la diffusione di un film dal titolo Root Cause: 72 minuti di falsi allarmi sulla pericolosità dell’endodonzia, che sarebbe all’origine di una lunga serie di malanni che vanno dall’ansia, alle cardiopatie, alle neoplasie maligne.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>L’unico modo di difendersi è quello di verificare le fonti: se le notizie sono riportate anche da siti scientifici o di comprovata serietà, allora vale la pena approfondire la questione.
