Vediamo perché.\u003C\u002Fem>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Il fumo è una pessima abitudine che riguarda il 24% degli italiani adulti, che fumano in media 12 sigarette al giorno fino ad arrivare a oltre un pacchetto per un quarto dei fumatori. A causa del fumo, ogni anno in Italia muoiono 93.000 persone. Giusto per fare un confronto, dall’inizio della pandemia di COVID (febbraio 2020) a oggi sono morte 167.000 persone.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Il fumo non attacca solo i polmoni e le vie respiratorie; esso ha anche pesanti effetti sulla salute della bocca, delle gengive e dei denti, a causa della tossicità della nicotina, che altera il microcircolo dei tessuti gengivali, rendendo più debole la risposta nei confronti dei batteri e favorendo l’insorgenza della parodontite. Un’altra conseguenza è la vasocostrizione locale, che riduce l’apporto di ossigeno alle gengive, aggravando di conseguenza gli stati infiammatori.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Ma non è tutto; il fumo incide sulla risposta terapeutica dei pazienti, rallentando la guarigione delle ferite a seguito di interventi e trattamenti. Un problema che colpisce in particolare i fumatori che necessitano di impianto, che presentano un rischio relativo di fallimento almeno 4 volte superiore rispetto ai non fumatori.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Il tabacco agisce anche a lungo termine: in combinazione con altri stili di vita non corretti mette a rischio il mantenimento degli impianti incidendo sulla salute dei tessuti che li sostengono.
